NLU — Natural Language Understanding
Technology that enables computers to understand the meaning and intent behind text or speech.
NLU (Natural Language Understanding) is the "brain" of a Voice AI agent. After ASR converts speech to text, NLU analyzes the text and understands what the customer wants — whether they're asking a question, requesting an appointment, or filing a complaint. NLU includes Intent Recognition, Entity Extraction (extracting entities like dates and names), and Sentiment Analysis.
